Well, Dschinghis Khan, no matter how painfully hard to spell, made me love Berryz. Before I didn’t really care about them, but now I love their goofy new image :D Then of course Tsunku has to screw with the most amazing H!P cover ever (sorry, but those hall scenes beat the epicness of Pepper Keibu) by releasing a IJUSTFELTLIKESCREWINGWITHSOMETHINGANDTHEYWOULDNTLETMESINGIT remix. I was kind of in shock after hearing the song for the first time…but decided to hold off my final judgement until I had seen the PV. If you haven’t seen it, go watch it, now! It’s a full 2 minutes of crazy, stupid, amazing, low-budget LULZ! I laughed so hard I fell of my chair. Like actually. So go and watch it and try not to laugh at the terrible graphics, strange comic book type design and the chipmunk-berryz. Yey Tsunku, I love you. You make the world LULZ.
Well not really... my cousin plays the fiddle in the band :P
I went out to watch them live tonight and they're awesome!!!!
A whole group of incredibly talented musicians and preformers!
Their music is...kind of off the wall...in a good way (haha) They're "acousitc rockers"
Everyone please check them out at their site!
The Band:
Trent Freeman - Fiddle, Vocals
He wasn't at the live D: I can't say much..sorry
Jason Homey - Banjo, Mandolin, Guitar
WOW, yea. During one song he switched from playing banjo to mandolin to guitar to bass to fiddle. And pulled it off. Better than about 99% of the people reading this could for any single one of these instruments!
Chris Jonat - Bass, Vocals
He's really funny and he was having a lot of fun up on the stage :D
Trevor Rogers - Vocals, Guitar, Harmonica, Percussion
Great on the stage, he really got the audience going! He's really friendly :P
Tyler Thompson - Drums
His drumming is really creative, it was almost more like harmony than the beat, if you know what I mean. lol
Rebecca Smith - Fiddle, Vocals
She has been playing fiddle/violin as long as I can remember, and she's incredible! She makes it look so effortless and fun! At one point she played so fast I'm surprised her hands didn't start smoking!
All the members had a great time preforming! They make it look so fun and effortless that everyone couldn't help but to get up and dance and clap their hands to the beat!
The Music:
I know it's not jpop (haha) but I love a change ever once and a while, and this is sure a change!
They have everything from rock songs to hoedown music (haha) The music and lyrics are really quirky and quite a laugh for some songs :D
I grabbed a copy of their last CD "Smart Kid" at the event tonight and it's the kind of CD that makes you want to jump up and dance around the room or burst into laughter, then it brings up old memories of sitting around a campfire :D
They have a new CD coming out in the next six months and I hear that it's better than everything they've made yet! I can't wait to get my hands on it! And I reccomend you do aswell. lol
If you get the chance to see them live, don't pass it up! They have great energy and do crazy things like playing drums on a banjo while it's being played (not kidding! it was hilarious to see)
Well I did a bit of a comparison between the two "generic" H!P group songs: Berryz's Special Generation and Momusu's LOVE Machine....
To start off, I'd like to point out that Special Gen. has been in every Berryz-related concert since its release (correct me if I'm wrong) LOVE Machine, well not quite so much...
Ok, I compared these using number of times preformed...
I first compared total preformances:
LOVE Machine: 32
Special Gen: 16
This was kind of expected...but double?! but in the first three years, LOVE Machine was only preformed 12 times...
Ruling: Tie
Preformances by the original group:
LOVE Machine: 14
Special Gen: 11
Surprised? I was...it's so close now! >.>
Ruling: LOVE Machine
Preformances by the original lineup (I figured this was kind of fair since Maiha did leave!)
LOVE Machine: 1
Special Gen: 3
Aya leaving kinda screwed MM here...
Ruling: Special Gen.
Total Preformances/Years since release:
LOVE Machine: 3.55
Special Gen: 5.33
And this is incredibly freaky... I checked it three times!
Ruling: Special Gen.
So Special Generation won! But does this mean we will be subjected to listening to it for the rest of Berryz existence?! Maybe they'll replace it...not likely... >.>
But the connections found are kind of creepy.... the total preformaces is double, the number of years since the release is squared and the total preformances/years since release is mirrored.... strangeeeeeeee! (I think it's a sign that both songs should never be played again in concert!)
I made a collection of Sayumi's solo lines from the Bon kyu! Bon Kyu! BOMB Concert :D Just because she owns them! I'm so happy she managed to sing so well and powerfully!
~~Keep improving Sayu!
Yey for being behind on reading blogs and stuff... >.> too much stupid homework...
..so its 23mins until cake day is over and I just have time to say happy birthday to International Wota quicky before bed!! :D
I shall leave you with a happy picture of Tsuji + cake (that equation always works out well XD)
and just for you misa... Yossie = awesomeness
Yea, and Cake Day is officially 15mins over.... T.T I think I dozed off... @_@
~~My dream cast...and what I think will actually happen~~
For: The summer Morning Musume Musical, CINDERELLA!
My dream cast: Affected by who I prefer and who I think would suit the role!
Cinderella: Niigaki Risa
Prince Charming: Kamei Eri
Evil Stepmother: Takahashi Ai
Evil Stepsisters (Drizella and Anastatia): Tanaka Reina and Michishige Sayumi
Fairy Godmother: Niigaki Risa Abe Natsumi!
King: Random Takarazuka Member
Queen: Random Takarazuka Member
Mice (Gus and Jaq): Kusumi Koharu and Mitsui Aika
Footman: Lin Lin
Coachman: Jun Jun
Grand Duke (the guy that goes to find Cinderella): Kusumi Koharu (She has two because she's a main member but the mice are minor roles, plus she was ADORABLE as a boy in Ribon no Kishi :P)
My prediction: Affected by overall popularity, attributes and what they were in Ribon no Kishi
Cinderella: Takahashi Ai (Not only leader....yea this is pretty obvious, but I'd be happier without her as Cinderella..)
Prince Charming: Kusumi Koharu (she is cute as a boy, and I'm sure she will be a large role to bring Kirarin fans) or Tanaka Reina (popularity and more boyish than most members :P)
Evil Stepmother: Kamei Eri (somehow....)
Evil Stepsisters (Drizella and Anastatia): Niigaki Risa/Tanaka Reina and Michishige Sayumi
Fairy Godmother: Niigaki Risa (she's got the personality to be perfect) or Kusumi Koharu (out of popularity, but I don't think she would suit this role as much...)
King: Random Takarazuka Member
Queen: Random Takarazuka Member
Mice (Gus and Jaq): Jun Jun and Lin Lin
Grand Duke (the guy that goes to find Cinderella): Mitsui Aika
I was slightly biased in this cast...but I think it would be pretty accurate :P Still crossing my fingers for my dream cast! I think the most important thing is how well they preform though! WORK HARD FOR US MORNING MUSUME!
Side note: I refuse to review LALALA..>:D fkdsjfls becuase it bugs me already and reviewing it will probably make me dislike it even more... I don't want to hate C-ute!!!!
So Misa forced me to continue and make this a real blog XD
In the following posts I'm going to review new singles/albums, starting here with Berryz Koubou's 16th single: Dschinghis Khan :D
(PV is courtesy of Some Boys! Blog)
The Song:
This song is addicting! I have it on repeat and still haven't gotten tired of it! I love the beat of the old version and it's carried over so well. This is the kind of song I heard on Berryz albums and always wished they had more of (namely Nicchoku ~Geinoujin no Kaiwa~, Sakura wa Rakusa and Omoitattara Yoshi Desse!) Its so lively and fun that you want to jump up and dance around to it! I started paying attention to the H!P kids nearly a year ago, and this is the first Berryz single I have considered buying! I guess they're starting to pull me in, I may have to pay more attention to them now. :D
The PV:
The dance shot isn't amazing, but the dance itself is pretty cool. What really won me over was their actions in the hall! They're so goofy (Chinami ROCKS!) and it shows off their personalities well! The colours blend so well it makes their crazy bright costumes blend in well and look nice. (:O) This PV looked pretty low-budget, but it worked well and didn't look "cheap". (Yey for H!P discovering how to use a budget)
Overall:
I loved how the lines were more evenly distributed (almost no solos!) which really suited this type of song, it's definetly a group-oriented song. The close-ups were very well distributed too, not focusing on one member. (Risako, you're awesome...but so are the other members) The covers are really cool, they remind me of Onna ni Sachi Are! (but brighter :P) I liked how the LE cover ties in with their tops, since they are half-body shots, and the RE has the green background to match their skits, in the mostly full-body shot :D
I have to agree fully with "Khan" as a song that would bring in a lot more outsiders into the... read more
